Last week to purchase ‘Songwriters Series Package’ for LIVE @ the Centre

November 30, 1999

P.E.I.'s Jenn Grant is first songwriter featured, this Thursday Oct. 23 (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) - The Sobeys LIVE @ the Centre season is well underway at Confederation Centre and this week presents the first featured artist in Songwriters Series -- P.E.I. crooner, Jenn Grant. The Juno-nominated folk-pop artist is celebrating her brand new album Compostela with a special launch show this Thursday at The Mack, starting at 7:30 p.m.

This week also marks the final chance to save with the Songwriters Series Package. Concertgoers can enjoy four separate concerts at The Mack for a total of $90. This includes Montreal chanteuse Alejandra Ribera on November 20; Halifax rockers The Stanfields performing a rare acoustic set on February 7; and Juno-winning Canadian mainstay Amelia Curran on April 17. This offer ends at show-time for Grant's performance -- 7:30 p.m. on Thursday October 23.

Compostela - produced by her husband, Islander Dan Ledwell - is Grant's fifth studio recording and the follow up to 2012's The Beautiful Wild, which won Pop Recording of the Year at the 2013 ECMA's. The album is a bundle of love notes filled with stories of bombshells and trailer parks and Barcelona. Partly inspired by a trip to Spain following her mother's death, it's also filled with voices, featuring at least 10 artists ranging from Doug Paisley to Buck 65 to Rose Cousins and including Halifax up-and-comers Stewart Legere and Kim Harris. Harris will be the guest opening act for this Thursday's performance at The Mack.

Montreal rising star, Ribera is becoming known for her new album La Boca and the CBC Radio 2 hit ‘I want'. The Globe and Mail called the single "strong, inspiring, and affecting" and gave Ribera's sultry, Latin-infused album a glowing three star review. Often compared to artists such as Tom Waits and Kate Bush for her distinctive voice, Ribera lives between Paris and Montreal, mesmerizing audiences on both continents in English, French, and Spanish.
